NUTRITION TIPS from NewGrip.com

Reported in the Chicago Tribune:
the "Anti-Inflammatory Diet".

The idea is that chronic inflammation is at the root of most disease.

Excessive inflammation is linked to arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, joint pain, heart disease, Alzheimer's, cancer, diabetes and Parkinson's disease.

BLAME?
Processed foods are largely to blame. The typical American diet contains at least 30 times more pro-inflammatory nutrients than an century ago.

The KEYS?
To discourage inflammation, eat plenty of antioxidant-packed foods such as blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, apples, carrots, peppers, flaxseed, wheat germ, walnuts, pecans and cold-water fish (wild salmon, mackerel, halibut, etc.). And last but not least, don't forget to keep joints supple and strong with regular stretching and other exercise.
Omega-3 fatty acids. Source: wild salmon (not farm raised), sardines, herring, walnuts, flax seed and flax seed oil. (In our home we grind flax seed in the coffee grinder; fine enough to change their color from dark brown to beige. This makes them very easy to consume. One TBS two or three times a day with water. Place a spoon full of seeds in your mouth and follow with a large glass of water. There is no after taste. This also helps regulate the bowels).

For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, B-6 is a MUST

The BAD stuff?
Likewise, go light on pro-inflammatory foods such as meat (which contains arachidonic acid), sugar, any baked goods, chips, cereals, energy bars, etc. that contan partially hydrogenated oils (which clog the system), most fried foods, carbonated drinks, margarine and most microwavable foods.

SUGGESTIONS?
Rebalance your diet to improve your bodies own ability to reduce inflammation.

Water cools the body. Drink at least 6-8 glasses per day of filtered water. When seeking a cure / healing drink the equivalent of 50% of your body weight in ounces of water. A 150lb. person should drink 75oz of water.

This will hydrate the cells of your body and help filter the kidneys, liver and intestinal track.

SOLUTION? Don't forget to keep joints supple and strong with regular stretching and other exercise. Plus... get to know food as medicine.
